Letter of Credit
In Dubai, Letters of Credit also known as ‘ Factual Credits ’ is the most generally accepted instrument of settling transnational trade payments. Letter of Credit is an arrangement whereby Bank acting at the request of a client( Importer/ Buyer), undertakes to pay for the goods services, to a third party( Exporter/ Devisee) by a given date, on documents being presented in compliance with the conditions laiddown.revocable letter of credit is one which can be cancelled or amended by the issuing bank at any time and without previous notice to or concurrence of the devisee. From the exporter’s point of view similar LCs aren't safe. Besides exporter can not get similar LCs verified as no bank will add evidence to Revocable LCs. still, if any bank has negotiated bills before damage of notice of cancellation , opening bank is liable to recognize its commitments. The LC should easily state that the same is revocable. As per Composition- 3 of UCP 600, a credit is irrevocable indeed if there's no suggestion to that effect. farther UCP 600 doesn't give for revocable LCs and thus similar credits no longer live. An Irrevocable Letter of Credit is one which can not be cancelled or amended without the concurrence of all parties concerned. Revolving Letter of Credit is one where, under terms and conditions thereof, the quantum is renewed or reinstated without specific emendations to the credit being demanded. It can revolve in relation to time and value. This type of credit is generally used in original trade and occasionally for import also. similar credits are opened for a stated quantum and the delineations under the LC are reinstated as soon as the documents are paid.

The Letters of credit can be confined to the individual quantum of drawing at a time as well as aggregate quantum of delineations. The Issuing bank has to confirm to the negotiating bank about the acceptance / payment of the documents for reinstatement of the quantum in the LC. In revolving LC for import, the maximum delineations and the validity would be to the extent permitted by the import licence, if similar significances are backed by Import Licence. Generally, we don't open Revolving LCs for import. still in exceptional cases similar L / C may be opened with acceptable safeguards conditions subject to strict compliance of Foreign Trade Policy and Exchange Control Regulations particularly with reference to aggregate delineations under similar L / C & payload dates etc. transmittable Credit is one that can be transferred by the original( first) devisee to one or further alternate heirs. The LC can be transferred to further than one alternate devisee handed LC permits partial payload and aggregate value of quantities so transferred doesn't exceed value of original LC.
